The same questions, answered from official sources, for two countries at a time. NooPro does not rank destinations — where a government publishes nothing, this page says so rather than filling the gap with a number.

01Visa and entry

Visa and entry: Russia and Canada

Visa and entry in Russia compared with Canada
FactorRussiaCanada
Student visaStudent visa, issued on the basis of an official invitation from the host university or the migration authority.Study permit. A temporary resident visa or eTA is issued alongside it for travel — the permit itself is not the travel document.
Issuing authorityConsular offices of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in India.Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The study permit fee is CAD 150.
How you applySecure admission, receive the official invitation, then apply at the Russian consulate covering your region. Government-quota admissions run through the official Rossotrudnichestvo platform.Apply online through IRCC after an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution. Processing times are published live on the IRCC tool rather than as a fixed figure.
Proof of fundsWe could not confirm a published financial requirement on an official Indian-facing consular page. Confirm the document list directly with the consulate handling your application.

Not verified — confirm before you rely on it.

You must prove funds for tuition, living costs and return travel, for yourself and any family joining you. IRCC sets the living-cost figure and revises it periodically, so read the current amount on its financial-support page.
Language requirementMany programmes are taught in Russian and require a preparatory year first; some are English-medium. Confirm with the university, and for medicine check the Indian NMC conditions on language of instruction.

Not verified — confirm before you rely on it.

IRCC does not set a test score for the study permit itself. Your Designated Learning Institution sets the language requirement for admission.

No official figure is published.

Health coverRussian consulates require a medical certificate, including HIV testing, for long-stay applicants. We could not load the India consulate page to quote the exact list, so confirm it with the consulate.

Not verified — confirm before you rely on it.

Health cover depends on the province, not the federal government. Several provinces exclude international students from public cover and expect private insurance.

Post-study work rightsNo dedicated post-study work route was found on official Russian sources. Anything you read describing one comes from commercial sites, not government pages.

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), valid from 8 months up to 3 years depending on the length of your programme. Since 1 November 2024, field-of-study requirements apply to many applicants, and master's programmes follow separate rules.
Using the degree in IndiaA medical degree earned here does not by itself allow practice in India. Under the National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations, 2021, an Indian citizen must hold an NMC eligibility certificate before enrolling and must clear the NMC screening examination (FMGE) to register in India. The regulations also set conditions on course duration, language of instruction and clinical training completed in the country of study. For most academic subjects there is no separate Indian licensing step. Regulated professions — medicine, nursing, law, architecture, accountancy — are each governed by their own Indian regulator, and a foreign qualification is not automatically accepted. Confirm the position with that regulator before you enrol, not after you graduate.
