What does AICTE approval mean for a technical programme?

AICTE is the statutory body for technical education in India. Approval is programme- and institution-specific, and it is not the same as UGC university recognition. Confirm the current status on AICTE’s official site for the exact campus and programme — not from a brochure.

UGC recognition concerns the university. AICTE approval concerns technical programmes that fall under AICTE’s mandate. One does not automatically answer the other.
If you are considering engineering, some management, pharmacy, architecture-related or other technical programmes, ask which regulator actually governs that programme, then open that regulator’s register.

The institution name and campus as they appear on AICTE’s portal.
The programme name and intake year. Approval for a related course on another campus is not approval for yours.
