Studying in Uzbekistan
A newer destination where very little is officially published — treat that as the finding.
Uzbekistan has appeared recently in Indian search interest, mostly for medicine. We could not confirm a named student visa category, a document checklist, a fee range or any inbound scholarship from official Uzbek sources. That absence is itself the most important thing to know before committing money.
Visa and entry in Uzbekistan
Student visa
We could not confirm a specific student visa category on an official Uzbek page. Visas are issued through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-visa portal — confirm the correct category with the Uzbek mission before applying.
Issuing authority
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
How you apply
Through the official e-visa portal. The study-specific document list, including any invitation letter requirement, was not found on an official page.
Proof of funds
Not published on any official Uzbek page we could find. Confirm with the mission.
Language requirement
Set by the university. Confirm the medium of instruction in writing before you accept an offer.
Health cover
No official medical or insurance requirement for Indian student applicants was confirmed.
Fees in Uzbekistan
Tuition fees
No Uzbek government body publishes a tuition range for foreign students. Fees must be read from each university.
Scholarships in Uzbekistan
Official scholarships
No inbound Uzbek government scholarship for Indian students was found. El-Yurt Umidi, which is often cited, funds Uzbek citizens to study abroad — the opposite direction.
El-Yurt Umidi Foundation
Not open to Indian students. It funds Uzbek citizens to study abroad, and is listed here only because it is often misrepresented as an inbound scholarship.

Post-study work rights

Using the degree in India
A medical degree earned here does not by itself allow practice in India. Under the National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations, 2021, an Indian citizen must hold an NMC eligibility certificate before enrolling and must clear the NMC screening examination (FMGE) to register in India. The regulations also set conditions on course duration, language of instruction and clinical training completed in the country of study.
What families get caught out by.
Not warnings for their own sake — each of these changes the cost or the outcome.
The lack of published official information is a risk in itself — you will be relying on the university's own claims.
Contact the Embassy of India in Tashkent for its current student advisory before paying anything.
For medicine, the NMC eligibility certificate and screening examination decide whether the degree can be used in India.
